Designing Collaborative User Interfaces for Ubiquitous Applications Using CIAM: The AULA Case Study
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this article we explain how we apply the CIAM methodology based on the CIAN notation in order to generate user interfaces in collaborative applications. CIAM has been applied successfully in the development of desktop applications, such as Domosim-TPC, demonstrating its effectiveness in the definition of user interfaces for collaborative applications where a shared context is required. We present the AULA system modeled by means of CIAM. The results in the application of this Methodology show the necessity to include those aspects closely related with context modeling and the synchronization of contents; that is why we make an outline of the way to take into account these characteristics as a future work.

CIAM: A Methodology for the Development of Groupware User Interfaces
The design of the groupware systems is a progressively extended task, which is difficult to tackle. There are not proposals to support the joint modeling of collaborative and interactive issues of this kind of systems, that is, proposals that allow designing the presentation layer of these applications. In order to solve this lack we propose a methodological approach, based on a set of notation...
متن کاملEvolution of Collaborative Learning Environments based on Desktop Computer to Mobile Computing: A Model-Based Approach
In the last years a great amount of collaborative applications have been developed. These applications can be framed in the paradigms of Computer Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW) or Computer Supported Collaborative Learning (CSCL) according to their specific purpose (group work or learning in-group). On the other hand some of them have been developed according to the paradigm of mobile computi...
متن کاملIntegrating Groupware Notations with UML
In this paper we introduce a notation integration proposal. This proposal supports the user interface design of groupware applications enabling integration with software processes through UML notation. We introduce our methodological approach to deal with the conceptual design of applications for supporting group work, called CIAM. A study case (the design of a Conference Resiew System) is pres...
متن کاملDesigning Expressive Musical Interfaces for Tabletop Surfaces
This paper explores the evolution of collaborative, multi-user, musical interfaces developed for the Bricktable interactive surface. Two key types of applications are addressed: user interfaces for artistic installation and interfaces for musical performance. In describing our software, we provide insight on the methodologies and practicalities of designing interactive musical systems for table...
متن کاملUser Interface Design in Mobile Educational Applications
Introduction: User interfaces are a crucial factor in ensuring the success of mobile applications. Mobile Educational Applications not only provide flexibility in learning, but also allow learners to learn at any time and any place. The purpose of this article is to investigate the effective factors affecting the design of the user interface in mobile educational applications. Methods: Quantita...
